The IET plays a key role in electrical installation standards and safety and is known for its independent and trusted voice. It manages the national committee JPEL/64 and, jointly with the British Standards Institute (BSI), publishes the IET Wiring Regulations.
The New Wiring Regulations are now in print
The new 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018) published on the 2 July 2018 and come into effect from January 2019. From 1 January 2019, ALL electrical work carried out MUST comply with the new regulations.

Major changes announced by the IET
On 1 March, the IET released details of the some of the major changes in the new 18th Edition.

New On-Site Guide, Guidance Notes and associated publications
The changes in the new Wiring Regulations mean that most associated titles will also need to be updated. Publication of the IET On-Site Guide is scheduled for release early in July with Guidance Notes 3 and the Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations (Part P) following at the end of July. The remainder of the Guidance Notes and student text will be published during August and September.
